Default Exhaust header remanufacturer?

Can anyone suggest a shop that can rebuild/reman/remake the exhaust headers that Aeromot nominally supplies (but now apparently doesn't)?

I replaced my pipes about 4 years ago, and they cracking already.
They were jet-blacked and properly wrapped, the prop was balanced and the carbs were tweaked. Still, the pipes cracked at a joint.

Source for remaking/reman exhaust header?

Default Exhaust manifold

Hi Bruce,

I'm sure it's very frustrating when the same problem keeps raising it's ugly head after you think you've fixed it. I can empathize.

Just wondering a couple of things. When you say that you jet-blacked the exhaust do you mean that you had the exhaust manifold ceramic coated? Where is/are the crack or cracks occuring?

I've had a continuing problem with my No. 1 cylinder exhaust pipe(right front, 914). It's not cracking but keeps separating at the joint with the collector box. I can push it back into where it should be by hand and the cylinder head fitting bolt torque checks okay. I'm getting ready to put some springs on this joint to try for a correction. I've been talking with some other Rotax owners (912) and there seems to be a recurring thought that the No. 1 exhaust manifold has some problems. It seems to vary between cracks and separation. These are people that have a Rotax in aircraft other than a Ximango.

Hey Bruce,

If you haven't already, try poking around your local EAA chapter for help. If the chapter is a decent sized one there's bound to be someone with the welding skills available to fix your problem.

Hope it helps!
