Default Weather Resources

I am always on the look out for good ways to get weather online:

Here is a nice tool that Manny Sousa found:

CWSU National METAR map - NOAA NWS

He writes:

This is pretty neat. Bring up the map, mouse over any airport, get an instant readout of WX conditions....

I notice that you can specify a smaller region and also get additional weather sites.

Default XC Skies

I got this note from Ron Snedecor:

I like Manny's NOAA weather map. I'd like to add in another weather link:

XC Skies Soaring Forecast Maps & Tools — XC Skies

This site has interactive soaring forecast maps and is quite thorough. You can try it for 30 days free and then subscribe for a month, 6 months, or a year ($39.95). The maps show terrain, states, roads, towns, etc. You can zoom in or out on any area and also overlay winds aloft at any level you choose. Across the top are the days and times that predictions are available in blue blocks. The yellow block indicates the map that is shown.

Default Added to weather resources

A few hours went by and I got this message from Ron ...

Hey Steve, I really like XC Skies so far. It should be added to the XOPA Weather Resource links.

Actually, he just wanted to make sure I knew that it should be added to the Knowledgebase. Have you noticed that it has been viewed more than most other articles. So we ought to keep that one current with the best ideas.

I added Manny's link as well. Any others?

Here is a link to the weather resources at: Knowledgebase > Online Resources > Weather Resources (links) link
